The "Methodology for Determining the Environmental Impacts of Digital Services" captures the environmental costs associated with the production and operation of hardware. It establishes the connection between the use of digital basic resources (compute, memorize, store, transfer) by a software application and the resulting environmental impacts. This methodology forms the foundation for the development of a test bench, enabling software to be tested on different virtualized hardware platforms and their environmental footprints to be assessed.
 

The purpose of this spreadsheet document is to explain the formulas from the above-mentioned methodological sketch 'Life Cycle Assessment of Digital Services'. Where appropriate, the mathematical formulae are included as graphics and the tables from the methodological sketch are shown (with different values where necessary). A copy template for the code allows you to copy it into your own script (e.g. Python, PHP, Javascript).
