GreenTech Innovation Competition: Bergtreffen & Demo Day
How can AI, digital twins, and edge or cloud computing contribute to the sustainable design of our world, and how can we make these technologies more sustainable? These are some of the questions addressed by research projects which are funded as part of the GreenTech Innovation Competition.
On May 19 and 20, 2025, eight projects presented their current research at the Bergtreffen and Demo Day in the Digital Technologies Forum. These projects participate in the GreenTech Innovation Competition which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The team of ECO:DIGIT also took part in the event. Yelle Lieder (adesso) presented our demonstrator of the test bench which enables an automated assessment of the greenhouse gas emissions and resource consumption of software applications.
Lena Hoffmann (German Informatics Society) gave a keynote speech on standardization. Currently, there is a lack of uniform standards for collecting environmental indicators. The methodology on which the test bench is based will therefore be incorporated into various standardization processes, to significantly contribute to sustainable software development. Our project members at the Oeko-Institute developed the methodology.
In addition, the project team participated in some exciting workshops and enjoyed the exchange with researchers from other projects and interested attendees. Many thanks to the organizing team for the two inspiring days!
